Name: Deidre Nickname: Dee Gender: Mare Race: Pegasus Breed: (Saddlebred x Standardbred) x Thoroughbred Age: Three Height: 16.3hh Coat Color: Sooty sable champagne tobiano sabino brindle Eye Color: Hazel Markings: Splotchy minimal tobiano markings mainly on the lower half of her body, snip, reverse medicine cap. Sooty spots mainly on shoulders, haunches, and false dark points, as well as brindling across her haunches. Genetics: Ee/Ata/Chch/Stst/Tt/SbSb Bloodlines: Starter
Description: Standing at an above average height, Dierdre seems to have never gone through the awkward leggy stage that most young horses do. At three years old, she's finally finished growing, and has developed into a slim, lean horse with a smooth and refined build. She has the characteristic long legs of a thoroughbred, along with a deep chest and well-rounded haunches. Her neck is elegant and smooth, and her head has a straight profile with large, expressive eyes.
Her coloring is a dark sable champagne, the sooty gene giving her fake dark points as well as darkening her shoulders and back. Splotchy tobiano markings run across her neck, barrel, and flank, as well as her front legs. As well, a small snip rests between her nostrils, along with a medicine cap marking over both of her ears. She also has the classic brindle pattern along her flank, beginning where her back legs connect to her body, and ending just before running across her back.
Perhaps the most striking aspect to this young mare, however, comes from her bloodlines. A pair of wings, nearly seventeen feet in length, are attached by her shoulders, just as any other pegasus. Slightly larger than average, her wings are the same sable color as her body, though her primary and secondary feathers are a slightly darker shade. The ventral sides of her wings, however, are speckled with a light dusting of white, matching the sabino pattern that runs across her body.
Personality: Deirdre is akin to nothing less than a hurricane. Rolling storm clouds and biting lightning all rolled into a singular storm that is as unpredictable as it is dangerous. She's all raging winds and booming thunder, going in circles in one direction, without the ability (or the knowledge) of how to stop or change. The only bonus? The eye, the calm center that keeps everything from coming undone.
She's ill-tempered with bad manners and a short fuse to boot. Rude, judgmental, with no respect for others' personal boundaries, Dee isn't exactly a doll to be around. Others annoy her just as much as she does them, and yet she's rather cool and neutral upon first introductions, granted she doesn't happen to be in a foul mood.
Even when she isn't particularly upset with everything in general, Deirdre's default expression is a smile that may or may not look more like a frown. She's stubborn, a little controlling, and likes water and bad weather. Despite her rather unsavory personality, Deirdre attaches herself to others quickly, so long as they give her a reason to. She's a splash of cold water to the face, but makes a better friend and companion than most would ever believe. Loneliness doesn't bother her though, she actually likes the feeling that sadness brings, and she likes being the one who thinks about the meaning of life while walking through a thunderstorm. She is nothing less than a storm child, and nothing more, either.
History: Born from a poisonous man and a soft-hearted dame, Deirdre was the only thing that stood in between her father's rage and her mother. A tall foal, though she was not a colt, her sire deemed her his prize child. She would be the one to help him achieve the power he wanted, more so than the weak willed mare he had captured in order to bare his daughter. Deirdre, old enough to comprehend, did as she was told, in hopes of garnering the happiness of both parents. Unfortunately, she would come to realize with time what a fruitless effort it was.
Her father, a wrathful creature, pushed her hard, demanding only the best. She was to be worthy of idolization, or nothing. For a short time, Dee tried. She let herself be pushed from hills and rocks, trying to use too-small wings to keep herself aloft. With her father's disapproval, however, the young filly found herself less and less willing to work for what she should have been given from the start.
Perhaps, if brought up differently, Deirdre would have been a soft, kind mare, but instead she was cold and verging on apathetic. She stopped letting her father push her around, and this brought out a darker side of him. The two argued constantly, but despite his admonishments, his daughter refused to give in and obey him. In trying to create the perfect child, he had instead built her into a stubborn and unloyal mare who would never again let him tell her what to do.
At two, Deirdre was barely fully grown, but she could no longer stay with her parents. She was angry at her father for everything he had done, and just as angry at her mother, for never having the power to stand up and protect her daughter. At her announcement, both of her parents were desperate to keep her around, both for different reasons. Deirdre, however, was nothing more than a cinder heart and a body of smoke, untouchable from the day she had been born. There was no longer anything they could say or do that would have any affect on her, at least on the outside.
Between those thin ribs, however, another story was being told. A shriveling heart that knew nothing else but the love of storms. A roiling storm on the inside, with only dark clouds and distant thunder on the surface. She may have wished to feel nothing, but she was no unfeeling beast. She had been hurt, but there was no way for her to show it, not without destroying the carefully crafted facade she had built up around herself. So without a second glance, has continued to live her life the only way she knows how. Blowing through and leaving only small signs of her passing.
Extras: Light scarring across right shoulder and chest from a particularly violent argument with her father.
