His body ached, every lean line and smallest muscle quivering underneath him. It was like the world was shaking around him, gravity just begging him to close the distance between the sand and his body. Only sheer willpower had him standing, knees wobbling but still underneath him. His sides heaved, moving too quickly for such a healthy creature, his nostrils flaring vividly pink against his white coat as he tried to catch his breath. Water dripped steadily from every point it could as the rain poured out of the sky with ferocity. His long forelock was tangled around his horns and hanging annoyingly over his blue eye as his tattered white locks were plastered to the side of his neck like limp bleached seaweed. Wolf’s elegant head hung low to his knees, his heaving breath kicking up sand with ever blow.
Occasionally he wheezed out a snort as water ran into his nose. He didn’t even have the energy to move out of the crashing waves, the water swirling around his legs when it roared up the sand before rushing back out. The watery expanse mirrored the roiling black, gray, and vaguely green clouds overhead, expelling water with an almost believable anger. Holy Creator, he’d picked the wrong day to decide to cross to Incantus. He knew perfectly well when he arrived on the beaches of Ignis that the crossing was nearly suicidal. It was a risk sometimes to cross the passage when the waters were just barely choppy, let alone this heaving mass of giant waves and valleys.
But he did it anyways. He stared at the waterway and the distant island and felt his heart clench with longing. He was spending more and more time there, ignoring the world he was supposed to be a part of. He didn’t belong in Ignis anymore than the winged Kelpies and fanged Unicorns did. He, for all his singular appearance, was a hybrid. Wolfgang was the child of two lands and he wasn’t the only one. In his memories, a similarly long legged and smaller white filly dashed as easily through the red stone caves of his childhood as he did. She was his constant shadow and echo, a winged beauty to his horned awkwardness. He missed her with a physical ache but he didn’t know her. Not really. He knew her name, knew her laugh, knew even the feel of her soft breath on his back as they fell asleep in a jumbled heap together. Years had passed since he saw her last, disappearing into a moonless night with the large winged male that was their sire. The familiar ghostly glow of their moonbright coats was the last thing he ever saw of either.
In the span of his thoughts going over just how foolish it was to cross, his breath slowly evened out, but the tremor in his muscles didn’t abate entirely, sending his body into shivers erratically. Huffing out a breath, he gave his head enough of a shake to shift his forelock from his eye and looked around him. No caves to be had, nothing like the red rocked world he’d been born into. But that was okay. He didn’t need a cave. Just a little shelter from the driving rain and wind to let his muscles recover, although he wouldn’t mind a thorough drink either. The amount of sea he’d accidentally consumed in his crossing was beginning to bear on him, the salt burn in the back of his throat. With trembling, hesitant steps, he began to make his way inland, ignoring the rockier shores that led to the cliffs. Those would do nothing but put his back to a corner.

Wandering around Incantus the mare found herself in many places. Growing up in Caelum she rarely left the homelands, even when she left her herd and home. Even wandering she had stayed in Caelum, only recently moving on to Incantus, a place where she found herself wandering around feeling a bit lonelier. She hadn’t come in contact with many on her journey and was starting to think that this may have not been the place for her. The rain was bringing her down a bit, surely the weather had a lot to do with her downed mood. The rain was never a problem, but the darkness and storm brewing didn’t give her much of a confidence boost. Finding herself looking over what seemed like a beautiful beach the mare changed her tone once again as the sand was hard and unwelcoming.
Finding herself at a high point looking over the beach her dark brown eyes caught sight of something bright in the distance. Flapping her dark wings a few times, shaking off some of the water she managed to get both sets of feathered wings over her enough to make out a bright white looking horse in the distance. This steed was nothing like her, he was bright, had no wings of feather and had two interesting horns protruding from his forehead. He looked interesting from afar, but even from where she stood she could tell he was struggling a bit in the weather. Had he crossed the seas to the island now? Rah didn’t have the answers, but figured she would find out.
Instead of taking flight she grounded herself with the estranged weather. Finding herself coming closer to the bright equine her dark eyes looked over him. Shaking off her dark coat her cream locks stuck themselves back to her dark coat. The winged equine looked odd in the wet weather. Her coat appearing black along with the feathers of her wings. She was dark as the night, all except for the white on her face and cream feathered socks. Her mane and tail were matted and soaked but still vibrant in what little light there was.
”Hello?” Her voice called out quietly as she found herself closer to him. Approaching with little fear she was still wary. Stretching a long wing over she let it give him some cover from the rain. Not sure if he wanted the cover or not she stayed ready to bolt. Confrontation was never something the mare was good at so if he was in a bitter mood she’d probably take off. Though her strong will to help everyone and be as kind as she could be brought her wing over him, offering him cover. Once closer to the white horse she took a closer look, he was much taller than she, but her large thick wings could easily covering him from the storm. He was long and lean, though heaving heavily. She was just a short stocky mare so she looked up at him even as her wings stretched over. ”Are you alright?” She questioned, staring at him a moment, noticing his oddly colored eyes. He was different to her, even if she was a equine with wings, the horns were interesting, his eyes oddly colored and he was huge. She hoped he wasn’t a mean stud, they only way she was getting away from him was the sky and it really wasn’t safe up there at this time.
(Sorry it isn't very good.)

The voice called to him, an echo of one lost so long ago. He remembered high pitched squeals and whinnies as he and his sister raced around the rust red rocks of the caves, dashing in and out in little white blurs that barely ever stopped moving. One minute there, the next minute gone. A constant source of vexation for their parents, two adoring parents that watched with pride as their children frolicked and grew among the dark holes they called home. They hardly knew any different. And at night, the ocean. The soft, ever present ocean provided a constant background and point of orientation. It was their favorite part of the day. They would nap until late into the night when their parents would nudge them awake with warm noses and gentle nudges, blowing sweet scented breaths over their colorless coats.
And all would be excited. His mother’s proud carriage dancing with eagerness, his father’s solid presence playful, and her, his twin, full of glee. They would dash out onto the sands, often still warm from the sun, racing each other but always staying together. Sand would go flying, hooves kicked up, hair flapping in the air. The night was theirs and theirs alone. They would splash into the waves as if there were no cares to be had and his father’s wide white wings would stretch across the sky as he pushed into the air. His twin’s would flutter on her back as if she longed to follow. But there was always a voice above all that, his mother’s. It was so soft and sure as she bade her love to be careful, as if anything would dare go wrong…
The memory played in his head as he turned to face the voice, his mismatched eyes blind to the fact that this mare was not the one he thought of. Dark like his mother, but she bore wings, not glistening horns and her hair… It was all wrong. Everything was wrong. By the time he realized, she was already beside him, her wing stretched over him as if to give him shelter. Normally, Wolf would have danced away, his long legs putting distance between him and anyone else. But he was exhausted and the rain was cold on his cool skin. The shelter was – just this once – welcomed. “I am fine. Should not have crossed.” His words were clipped but his eyes held none of his usual distrust. They were cool and calculating as he looked her over. Short and stocky. Unusual for a Pegasus. But perhaps she knew of one as white as him with… He struggled to dig up the memory of what color her eyes were and finally let it alone. It would come to him in time. Perhaps making an ally just this once was not such a bad idea. Besides, she was just a stocky little mare. There was little threat to be found there. Not when his long legs and runner’s build could carry him away at a moment’s notice.
