Crystal eyes watch the lines of rocks that lead up along the water fall. High stepping feet carried the small form upwards, propelling her towards the top of the rocks. Wind whipped about her, twirling her white banners about her body. Long ears flop around as she continues her trek. The sun shown down and pelted her champagne coat with warmth. Her head hung low as she walked, its normal shy position, though no soul was here for her to be shy about. A smile shown between her lips, always happy on the exterior, but broken inside. It was polite to be happy, and that was what led her to be so, she always strived to be the best that she could be. She had to be as good as she could, though she could never reach the perfection of her family. No she could never be as glorious as a Pegasi.
Here she was, bare backed, no wings to speak of. She looked just like one of the Normals. But she wasn’t. No she was a Pegasi. Born from the pure bloods that all of her family originated from. But she was cursed. She had a disease that caused her body to reject wings, and so she was different from the other equines around her, the only Pegasi in her herd without wings. All the equines teased her about this, because she was so different. Every child that she should have grown up with, become friends with, would have nothing to do with her. Well nothing to do other than be cruel to her. This caused her to become a shell of the once happy filly that she had once been. But it also started a fire in her. Violet wanted to better herself. So that she might be able to become as good as the Pegasi. And so she became polite, worked at it all the time. She was known as the most polite child in all of her home, all the elders accepted her in some way. But not the younger children. No they grew up alongside her but never accepted her. They loathed her really, for being different. They couldn’t understand her and so they didn’t want anything to do with her.
And so she ran away. Hoping that she could find out how to become accepted somewhere away from there. But how could she do that? She could not even be accepted by her own kind, how could she hope to be accepted by someone different? All of these thoughts ended as the mare finished her climb and reached the top of the waterfall. Every sense was set on the cliff that hung alongside the falling water. The rushing of the liquid was all that the mare could hear. This is what she came here for. This cliff. Maybe her disease was only here because she had not tried hard enough. Maybe it did not believe that she truly wanted to be like the Pegasi. Maybe she had to show it wrong. Maybe if she jumped off of this cliff wings would sprout from her back and save her. And if they didn’t? Well then who would really care? And so she turned her back to the cliff and began to walk towards the trees that were only a yard away, so that she could have a running start.
Violet stares at the trees for many minutes, her thoughts racing through her mind, her heart pounding in her chest. Then her body spins around, facing the cliffs, no time to think now. Her body leans back on her haunches, preparing to race towards the edge of the cliff. Her breath was shallow in her lungs. Then she launches off of her back legs, lurching towards the cliffs edge. Hoping, praying that golden wings would sprout forth from her back and fly her away, to her home where she could finally be accepted.
