History: Dawn had broken over their world, but the picture it showed was not a beautiful one. It had been early in the spring, but late enough in the year that the nights had been mild at worst. The year before had been so kind to them, so pleasant. The winter had seen only passing flurries before a sweet spring and mild summer. Breeding had been done early in the year. But the fall had lasted but a few weeks, leaves losing color quickly before falling and giving way to the snows. So many mares would lose their unborn young, already too large in the womb. Those that did not feared that the foals born alive would starve or be unable to fight the cold. Alas, this halted nature naught. And as a last, defiant snow storm came to an end, two young mares lay down beneath an old cedar, their Ladies in Wait keeping watch as the earth beneath the great tree was soon drenched. But not in melting snow...
Time would pass, and the two mares would lead almost identical foals back to a herd that was thin and sickly. The storm had taken a young life, and sorrow was becoming hard to replace with joy. But one found pride and relief where others could only stare blankly at the two half-sisters and their tiny little foals. A tall stud of magnificent silver colors. "Leave it to those two to have their young last, and in a freak blizzard of all times." the voice spoken was of an old bay male, cranky from the pain that the cold had brought to his body. The lead only smiled as he waited for his young queen and her sister to approach him.
Happyness was short-lived, sadly. Envy crept into the young unicorn's heart as she and her sister grew. It would seem that the smaller, more frail looking of the two would always be the favored. Why would always be beyond her comprehension. But, for some odd reason, it was the fact. Of course, only Dris knew her sister's dirty little secret; How the frail-looking hussy was terribly, sinfully vain. Why, the males flocked to the stupid chit's side! Obeyed her every comend! Of course, perhaps it was because Dris'Aun had taken after her father in build, more so than in color. Dris was not as dainty, nore was she so elegant and refined. No, unlike Ari, Dris had a talent for being almost clumsy. And loud.
But she couldn't hate her sister, per se. You see, she always made time for Dris, confided to her and listened to her. Secretly, though, Dris felt that this ment nothing and would sooner or later pass. It never occured to her that she vould become so begrudgingly enviouse of her sister, though, that she would concider leaving their home with the vain one just to make sure that she never turned the head of another stallion again. Granted, it was a chore at first. But she eventually found out how to stear them away from her sister. And now that they travel to cursed desserts, it's an even easier game.
