No New Posts Pahane

This forest, for some strange reason, grows thicker and more abundant with trees than any other forest within miles upon miles. The Pahane is packed tightly with many types of coniferous trees, not allowing much daylight through in many areas. Even on the hottest summer days, heat from the sun rarely makes it to the soil, making it constantly chilly and soggy. Even the air is damp and musty. Without the guidance of someone with enhanced sight or the ability of 'illuminate', it is likely that you will collide with something, or someone, at night. Frightful creatures like the Pahane. Don't wander through the darkness alone.

No New Posts Valik

Along the edge of the Pahane lies the Valik, a scorched quarry littered with bones of the dead from battles that took place both ages ago and only recently. It seems as though rain has not touched the cracked and broken earth in many, many years. Here and there, burn marks may be found, as well as mortified and fallen trees. Various lizards, snakes, and scorpions live within these fallen trees and the cracks tracing abstract patterns through the earth. The Valik is an unsafe place for those who do not watch their step.

No New Posts Ciragidus

On the other side of the Valik sits the Ciragidus; a wide, gently rolling valley. The blades of grass are short, yet plentiful enough to keep a herd or horses satiated year round. A snaking stream, glittering like sapphires in the light, flows quietly from the not-so-distant mountains through the far edge of the valley. It looks as though the water is deep blue, but it's just the shade of the stones lining the bed. Various sized rocks litter the ground around the stream, but they can easily be avoided. On the far side of the stream lies a string of coniferous trees. They aren't grouped to close together, but they are close enough to give small groups of horses relief from the summer heat and winter winds.

Jacinto

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Flumen

Throughout the whole of Jacinto flows the Flumen, a swift flowing river. It twists and turns across the vast forestland, starting at the base of the waterfall that flows over the Nalicitus and ending where it reaches the ocean near the edge of Scelero in Ignis. The bed of the river is rocky and slick, and large boulders jut out of the water here and there. Most of the river consists of whitewater rapids. In the areas where the river is wider, the water is calmer on the surface, but still moves very quickly, making it dangerous to cross. Unseen currents could sweep even the strongest of horses away. There are small areas that pool away from the river where it is safe to drink. Along the bank there's slick rocks and boulders, as well as both standing and fallen trees. The area around the river is always damp, especially as you draw closer towards Nalicitus. The river is always swift-flowing, though it does decrease somewhat during the summer, making the wider areas more safe for crossing. The flood-threatening winter levels make the river nearly impossible to cross.

No New Posts Querlicetum

Deep within the forest of Folidae sits the Querlicetum. The trees around this small clearing are so thick that one cannot see in or out. The only ways into the circular clearing are from the sky, which can be dangerous if weather conditions are harsh, or if you can manage to find the small C-shaped gap between the trees. The opening is so small that only one horse may fit through at a time. Larger horses will no doubt find the gap difficult to get through. It may seem large enough at first, but the opening shrinks as you pass through, with the middle being the tightest point. Luckily the entrance shouldn't be too hard to find. Most of the Querlicetum is bordered by the Flumen, making the ground around the tree-encased clearing slick with the mist from the rapids. It leaves only about a twelve foot area where the river does not flow. The clearing itself may fit only a dozen small horses at a time. The ground within the ring of trees is dead; the trees having sucked the life from whatever was living there before. However, slimy green moss clings to the trunks of the trees and hands from their branches, making a sticky trap for anyone who gets too close. A small, crystal-like bush sits in the center of the clearing, but its purpose is currently unknown.

No New Posts Folidae

Most of Jacinto is dotted with the forest known as Folidae. This forest is thick, but not in the same way as the Pahane. Where the Pahane is packed with close-knit evergreens, the trees Folidae have grown quite large. Some trees might even be as wide as a dozen horses if they were to surround it nose-to-tail. Due to the heat from being so close to the land of Ignis, the cooler temperatures of Caelum and the mist from Flumen, the weather within Folidae resembles that of a rainforest. The roots don't have far to travel in-ground to find water. They sprawl in every different direction under and above the ground, creating a massive tangle of a spiderweb-like network. Some roots create archways, as so so some branches as they twist and turn from tree to tree. The trees themselves, the ground, as well as whatever rocks and boulders inside the forest are coated with a slick moss from the Flumen rapids ad the humid climate. The bright green moss hangs from the overhead branches, frequently dripping with moisture to create a setting that can be both eerie and serene.

Lacuna

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Castenit

Castenit is one of the first views of Lacuna when you gaze across the lake from Incantus. A pristine white stretch of beach, the sands are fine and soft to the touch. These white sands make up most of the land, leading down to crystal clear waters that shift between a glowing turquoise to a soft green when the light hits. The water isn't to be trusted though. Not far past the shoreline, the shallow waters drop off sharply into the canal of Alveus. It is the tamest of the Kelpie lands, pleasantly brushed with breezes that drift down the canal. Palm trees dot the ivory beach; groups of dozens in some areas and sparse in others. They provide adequate shade for the warm summer sun.

No New Posts Alveus

Alveus is not what it seems. Calm dark blue waters that hide the creatures within their depths, it forms a canal that connects the beautiful beaches of Castinet to the gruesome marshes of Sordeo. Dropping off from the shoreline sharply, the water is deep. It fades from the stunning clarity of the sandy beaches to the murky, muddy waters of the marshes. It is roughly in the center of Lacuna, stretching out from the island of Incantus to reaches beyond the stretch of knowledge. It's a place for experienced swimmers only. The surface may be calm, but there are times where the water beneath the surface may literally sweep you off your feet. Due to the depth of the water, it is much colder than the shallower waters of Castenit and Sordeo.

No New Posts Sordeo

Sordeo is made of marshes; the birthing pit of life in the land of Lacuna. Home of many species of creatures such as dangerous and territorial alligators, it's the retreat of many of the Kelpie kind. The murky waters make it easy to create hidey holes or lure unsuspecting horses into the surprising depths that crop up here and there. The surface is layered with a thick mess of moss, slime, and random other objects. Moving through the Sordeo makes for slow going; the water here is thick like sludge, unlike the crisp, clean waters found throughout the rest of Lacuna. Sordeo is the least trustful of the Kelpie lands. Watch your step.

Caelum

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Alturris

Past the snake of trees bordering the Ciragidus rises the Alturris. These hills roll for a few miles before morphing into the mountains of Ventosus. But what lies between the two groups of trees and rocks takes up most of the Caelum. The earth is level in some areas and greatly sloping in others. The grass is long and luscious green, making deep holes and the occasional bunker difficult to see. The bunkers do make the perfect place during harsh weather to hide however. Wind frequently rustles the grasses, while rain visits frequently no matter what time of the year. Some of the bunkers will fill with water that may be used for drinking. There is only a small range in temperature, meaning pleasant summers and rare snowfall during the winter. Alturris makes the perfect place to raise foals if you can protect them from the wind and rain.

No New Posts Ventosus

The edge of the Alturris quickly morphs into the mountains of Ventosus. The base of the mountains are covered in short grasses with rocks scattered here and there, both small and large and every size in between. As you travel further up into the mountains, the surface grows more and more rocky. Some places are very unstable and may shift or slide at any time if one is not careful where they step. Most of the areas in the middle of the mountains are rough, but there are some areas that are slick and dangerous to walk on. Even if the ground is dry. You can find a few types of evergreens growing between the rocks in small patches all over the mountainside. Past the lower and middle portions of Ventosus is, of course, the peaks. There are no trees here, though there are a few weed-like bushes that are not safe to eat littered about. Year round the mountain peaks are covered with; anything from patches of snow in the shady areas to dozens of feet deep. That's not what the mountains are known for, however. The peaks are known for being extremely windy. Hardly a day will pass by when the air is still, making the highest points of Ventosus hazardous for travel.

No New Posts Nalicitus

Just before Caelum shifts into Jacinto, is Nalicitus. Toward the base of the mountain, where the rocks and boulders begin to stabilize, lies Nalicitus; the bottom of the massive waterfall that seems to rush from nowhere. Behind the waterfall is Nalicitus itself. Past the streams of water and hanging strands of clingy moss open a vast cave large enough to fit dozens of sets of wings. Far enough inside the cave is very dry, plus there's a small pool of fresh spring water that can be used for drinking. The ground outside the cave, around the waterfall is slick with water and moss, making wandering about quite dangerous. The falls rush though the large boulders at the bottom and rushing water can be heard beneath the ground. If you travel far enough down the rocky path to the edge of Caelum, the water will rush out of an opening beneath the rocks to form the river of Flumen. It is unwise to travel down the river from that point.

Ignis

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Torraevio

A dormant volcano lies beneath the shallow beach that is the Torraevio. The shores are covered in large pebbles and small rocks, colored with various shades of red and black as well, making it look as though blood has been spilled. The water is somewhat murky from the soot that sifts beneath the surface. It's warm from the volcano that runs below the crust, making the calm water that laps upon the shore quite pleasant. However, the warm water makes the air quite humid. During the peak of the summer, some areas where the Earth's crust are thinner let more heat through cause the water to bubble and steam like a hot spring. During the winter, the water still remains warm. The steam from the water during the winter makes the air warmer and more humid than the rest of the lands.

No New Posts Scelero

Between Torraevio and Infersitis lies Scelero; a large expanse of bright red caves and cliffs. Made of a clay-like substance, it wears away easily in the harsh weather of Ignis. The little rain Ignis receives has slowly whittled away the surface, in addition to the constant lapping of the gentle waves. You can see the different water levels that have occurred over time where the erosion has occurred, especially towards the upper levels of the cliffs and caves where the water has not reached in many years. There are a few small cove-like areas where the warm water may pool when the high tide secedes, which may leave behind some interesting creatures from the deep. During the winter and the height of the summer, the many arches, caves, and tunnels within Scelero may provide protection from the weather. It may also provide sufficient protection from the high winds and intense heat of the Infersitis desert.

No New Posts Infersitis

The Southernmost portion of Ignis consists of the Infersitis; a sprawling dry red-painted desert of clay and dying grasses. There is little life in this desert, but the Unicorns manage to survive here even during the worst of conditions. The air dries more and more the further you wander into Infersitis. The desert is often hot year-round, giving little to no relief during the night. There are very rare days, however, where it may rain or even get cold enough to snow. Most days of the year, the skies are a clear blue will little to no cloud cover. There are no trees within Infersitis, there is only the shade from the mesas and buttes during the early mornings and late afternoons. As for foliage, the sparse grasses are tough and hold little nutrition. Hardly appetizing at all, but there are patches here and there, closer to Scelero and Torraevio that are overly ripe with nutrients. So long as they are eaten sparingly, there should be plenty to go around.

Incantus

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Tempiscui

Tempiscui, being the reflection of the Hybrid territory Umbra, seems to be a mix of all the areas of Incantus. It has the biggest variety when it comes to weather, even if it still isn't much compared to the main lands. Odd weather frequents this area more than the rest of Incantus, though it is still a fine place to be. The beaches are not as soft as Epistegor, but are not as rough as Ussexurm even though they are similar in color. The water varies from deep blue to aqua, and the warm waves gently lap upon the beach in a similar manner to Orbrix. There are rocky cliffs along the shore and within the water like Adoculus and Epistegor, but these are mostly climbable with a bit of effort. They are also generously covered in various greens, making Tempiscui a bountiful place for everyone.

No New Posts Orbrix

Orbrix, just like Jacinto, might be considered one of the most beautiful places within the lands. If bright, colorful flowers and deep blue waves are what you like to consider beautiful. The golden sand beach is quite minuscule compared to the wide expanse of Ussexurm or even any of the other beach-like areas, only stretching about a dozen feet or so. The rest of the beach is covered in deep green grasses and soft pink flowers, with some dark-colored rocks scattered here and there. It's usually warm, despite the breeze that rolls across the lake, creating the gentle-rolling foamy waves that lap upon the beach, which makes the water warm as well. It may look rough, but that's not the case at all. The waves are safe enough for foals to frolic within, just as the fields of flowers are. Orbrix is a place where even the newest of mothers may relax and allow their younglings to kick up their heels. The best part? It's all safe to eat! Just watch out for bees...

No New Posts Epistegor

Epistegor is the Lacuna side of Incantus. Surrounded by towering evergreen-dotted cliffs, oddly eroded by the rough waters, there is a quiet cove. The waters within are calm and clear, but fail to reveal the hidden network of caves in the cliff walls deep in the water. The beach is pristine, covered in the same fine pale sand of Castenit. Driftwood is rarely found on this beach, protected as it is from the main waterways. It is always peaceful within the cove due to the fact that harsh weather rarely reaches it. Often times it is warm and pleasant, not varying much from night to day, nor from summer to winter. Epistegor changes least of all out of the areas within Incantus. It is an excellent gathering place for those who choose not to take sides, and also to keep foals safe from the elements if they do so decide to change abruptly.

No New Posts Adoculus

Across from the windy territory of Caelum is its Incantus counterpart; Adoculus. High winds rush across the lake from the towers mountains of Ventosus to the eroded cliffs of Adoculus. These winds make the waters between the main lands and the island quite a bit more rough than the other areas. Often times, especially during a storm or particularly high winds, the lake is unsafe to cross. Even in the shallows, the wake of the water will be too turbulent. Besides, if you were to cross, there is no place along the cliff that is even remotely low enough to climb upon. The eroded cliff-side is somewhat unstable. So even if there were a way to climb upon the rocks, it would be extremely unwise. The only way to reach Adoculus is by wing.

No New Posts Ussexurm

In contrast to the gist of Ignis, its portion of Incantus is quite pleasant. Though it is mostly beach, there is still plenty of foraging along the edges, where it meets Orbrix and Epistegor. The few miles that consist of Essexurm are nearly all red-tinted sands. They are dry, though there are small pools and other areas of water here and there from the rains that frequent the island of Incantus; albeit they grace this particular area less often than the rest of the lands. The sands look soft, but they are quite the opposite. The lack of water washing upon the flat beach and past volcanic eruptions have left the beach somewhat rough in terrain, despite the harmless first glance.
